Ryan and I got an early start on our way up Mt. Hood. Skinning up groomed track at 6000ft.

We got out of the groomed and onto the snow field. It was icy, but steep. We abandoned our skins and packed the skis up. Boot grip was enough. Crampons might have felt secure but were not necessary.

Then onto an island of rock.

Illumination Rock was as high as we got. Close to the Hogsback about 9500 ft.

Ready to make some turns. We had waited for the snow to soften, but conditions were still icy and craptacular.
Tomorrow: Windsurfing
